Custom Bag: Large Zipper Tote With Convertible Backpack Straps. All Black

This is the first custom bag that I have worked on since moving to Ottawa.  Samantha in Stuttgart, Germany ordered this Large Zipper Tote that converts into a backpack. She graciously waited 4 months to order it, since I closed the shop for the move. Samantha was the first person I contacted when I started taking custom orders again. I made sure she got exactly what she wanted. So let’s take a look at this black beauty…

This is a Large Zipper Tote with 2 front pockets added to it. I have the Medium Zipper Tote in the shop, but the Large Size is a custom order.

Samatha wanted her tote to be able to convert into a backpack. When the backpack straps are not in use, it can be adjusted to the shortest length to not get in the way. All the bags can have backpack straps added to them.

These are my favourite features. Samantha wanted to have a luggage sleeve added for her travels, but she also wanted a cell phone pocket on her luggage sleeve. This feature is something unique to this bag. I made it big enough for a cell phone, passport and any small items that she wants to slip in there. I can see how this would be very useful after getting all your belongings off the security check, which always makes me very anxious due to the hurried nature.

The interior of the Large Zipper Tote has 5 pockets: 2 water bottle (also great for sunglasses, folded umbrellas), 2 medium size pockets and 1 large. I always say organization is key and when you carry your daily life around, it has to be organized.

The interior is made out of a tanned coloured cotton twill lining. A sturdy natural textile.

Samantha also wanted an interior zipper pocket. I made this to be big enough to hold important belongings. It’s 9.5”L x 6”H (24cm x 15cm).

A solid brass key clip was also added. I made it with some black English bridle leather to match the leather for the rest of the bag.

This bag is loaded with customizations and the last one is a leather zipper pull. This is a special request and I made it with the same English bridle leather.

In all, this is a bag that you can take on your daily excursions and travel. It’s also the maximum size personal carry-on for most airlines.

Shoulder Tote Straps: 9.5″ drop

MATERIALS:  Lightly waxed canvas that is water resistant. This proprietary blend of wax treated onto a premium heavyweight canvas is made from a family-run textile company established in the 1830’s. Even though this is a strong material, the finished bag is lightweight and durable.

Thick Italian vegetable tanned leather that is strong and ages well.
