Custom Bag: Commuter Bag for Work Travel | With Luggage Strap and Passport Pocket | All Black
This custom Commuter Bag is for Binish in Washington, DC. She travels often for work and wanted a mid-sized bag that she can use as her tote and a carry-on.
There were quite a few customizations added to this bag. The first one is, of course, a luggage strap.
The bag is made out of black lightly waxed canvas, that is water resistant. This bag has short carry handles and a long crossbody strap made out of thick Italian vegetable tanned leather.
Since Binish travels a lot she also wanted a back zippered pocket for her passports and small items that need to be secured.
The interesting thing about this back zipper pocket is that there’s a pocket within the pocket. Binish wanted to separate her small belongings in the main pocket and have another pocket where she can slip her passport and IDs in it. I didn’t have a passport with me when I shot this picture, so I found a small booklet of my son’s for this shot (which just happens to be the size of a passport).
The interior of the bag is lined with a tanned cotton twill. It comes standard with 4 organizing pockets: 2 water bottle size, 1 large and 1 small one for your cell phone/wallet.
Another customization Binish wanted was an inside interior zipper pocket. Yes, security was on her mind when ordering this! With travel, you always have to make sure your belongs are secured. That’s why I find my totes and bags to be perfect for travel because everything is fully closed. You will have to stow your personal bag in front of you when the plane takes off, and nothing will fall out of the bag.
Here’s a photo for size reference. This bag is mid-sized, not too big and not too small. It won’t fit a regular size laptop (13″), unless you have a smaller one.
The Commuter Bag can be worn 3 ways: across the body, on the shoulder or hand-held. The crossbody strap is detachable. That might be helpful when the bag has to go through security, so it doesn’t catch on to anything.
Wearing it on the shoulder is another option. It looks more like a small briefcase when worn this way. It’s quite professional looking, I think.
