My 4 Favourite Handmade Items From Circle Craft Christmas Market 2013

Custom Table and Bench by Kate Duncan (Vancouver, BC), starts at around $5,000.  Ceramic Bowl by Junichi Tanaka (Maple Ridge, BC), $30. The Snap Leather Wallet by Glasnost (Vancouver, BC), $50. Jackie A-Line Coat by Patouche (Toronto, ON), $360.

Yesterday was the final day of the 40th annual Circle Craft Christmas Market (Nov 7-11). It’s the largest handmade craft show in Vancouver showcasing over 300 designers, makers, artists and food vendors from Canada. It took place at The Vancouver Convention Centre; a beautiful building situated on the water’s edge in downtown.

I have been an exhibitor at this show for the last 4 years under a different label for diaper bags and baby goods. This year, I didn’t participate because Modern Coup was in the development phase at the beginning of the year. In order to participate, you HAVE to get your application in at the beginning of the year for jurying, even though the event itself is for Christmas time. This is pretty standard for large gift shows.

It was fun to go as a shopper this year, though. I took my time looking at all the quality crafts from different disciplines (ie. clothing, ceramic, wood, jewelry, fibre) and talking to exhibitors. As always, I liked many of the artisanal products I saw, but the 4 that I mentioned above are my favourites.
